The Academy Ethos and Values
These are the Core Values that are most important in establishing the culture of our Academy. These values have evolved from our Growth Mindset principles and form a major part of our pastoral and academic curriculum.
At Excel we aim to help students develop and grow into young adults who are ready and able to go out confidently into the world.
Developing a sense of Pride in themselves and Respect for themselves and others is at the heart of everything we strive for at the Academy. In order to help students to become proud young adults we strive to embed our core values in every individual. Below is how these values have been explained to our students immediately from beginning transition in Year 6 to 7.
This means to show that you are mindful of someone else and their feelings. To behave and act in a respectful way is to show that you are polite, well-mannered and considerate.
This means to show that you are able to recover from a set-back or a disappointing grade, to show that you won’t give up and that you will work hard and try again in order to achieve your goals.
This means to set your own goals high, reach for the stars and have the very highest expectations for yourself. You may want to try something new that you haven’t had the opportunity to do yet.
This means to hold your head high, communicate with others and to show that you are proud of who you are and what you stand for.
This means to think about your actions, what you say, what you do and how you treat others so you can grow and learn from your mistakes.
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard!
